The MLA of 39 Sanis AC and Advisor for Agriculture Mhathung Yanthan on Monday said that the merger of NDPP with NPF was intended to strengthen the Indo-Naga political talks, adding that there was no fear of losing power or facing allegations, while reminding party workers that responsibility, rather than seniority, defines their role within the party.

Gracing the oath-taking ceremony as the chief guest of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) 39 Sanis Assembly Constituency (AC) under Wokha district held at the Multi-purpose Hall, Sanis, Yanthan described the NPF as a well-structured party that represents the aspirations of the Naga people.

Likewise, he said that the decision to join the NPF fold was aimed at strengthening unity under a single regional party rather than multiple regional parties, thereby reinforcing the ideology of the long-standing Naga political negotiations.

At the same time, he encouraged party workers to discharge their responsibilities diligently at the grassroots level, beginning with village booth committees, stressing the importance of enrolling members to foster a sense of belonging within the party, and called upon workers to educate the public on the transition from NDPP to NPF.

Calling for unity and teamwork, Yanthan urged party members to work as one family without distinction between senior and original members. He further encouraged AC party workers to focus on village-level organisation and actively engage in the membership enrolment drive for the progress of the party.

Extending Christmas greetings to party workers, the Advisor congratulated the members and urged them to faithfully uphold their oath and remain committed to the party without differences.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Shanthungo Yanthan, General Secretary (Organising), NPF Wokha division, while John Ezung, Vice President (COB) in-charge, NPF Wokha division, delivered a short speech. The programme was chaired by Echungbemo Ovung, Secretary, NPF Wokha division, and concluded with a vote of thanks by John Yanthan, Working President, NPF Wokha division. The oath was administered by Meribemo Kinghen, president of NPF Wokha division.
