The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Tuensang region organised a felicitation programme for the three MLAs from the Naga People's Front (NPF) who had recently joined the fold.

The three MLAs— Kejong Chang (Tuensang Sadar-II), Toyang Chang (Tuensang Sadar-I), and Müthing Nyuba Sangtam (Longkhim-Chare) were felicitated at the Region Office in Tuensang. The event was attended by H Chuba Chang, MLA, Advisor (R&B) PWD, Nagaland and Shilu Sangtam, Vice President, NDPP, Nagaland along with officials of all ranks and files from the region.

Delivering the welcome address, H Wongto Chang, President, NDPP Tuensang region stated that, “This is a wise decision made by the joining MLAs to work together under the banner and the motto of NDPP joining the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister Nagaland and Chingwang Konyak, President, NDPP Nagaland, without any differences.”

MLA Kejong Chang stated that, “Till the coming general election, we will work together with join hands for a better government. This is a new union for us however in the days to come we must aspire to form a new government.”

Similarly, MLA Toyang Chang maintained that, “21 MLAs from NPF joined NDPP with an intention to strengthen the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and Chingwang Konyak and the party. What has gone that is gone but from now on we must work with one language and we need to go on.”

He exhorted the party workers to take their responsibilities with sincerity and stated that, “The party workers must take on the sense of responsibility with one mind and one language in cooperation with one another.”

“We have to be prepared as a party in this democratic country, elections will eventually come and it’s a collective effort of the candidates and the party workers. The teamwork must begin from the grassroot level with coordination from village till the region,” he added.

Meanwhile, MLA Müthing Nyuba stated that, “The main objective of a political party is power and we need a strong regional party in our state. Today’s event should not only mark outward unison but we need to be as one. We must achieve success in the 2023 general election and there should not be even a hint of doubt for the coming election.”

The President of the Youth Organisation, NDPP Tuensang Region Imti Chang meanwhile stated that Tuensang Sadar-I is a nerve centre which constitutes of many tribes. “Party leaders of Sadar-I and ACs, you are a workers of NDPP here but you may support other political parties in other constituencies; that should not happen. If you love your party, be a supporter of this party wherever you go,” he exhorted.

Addressing to the MLAs, he also urged for cooperation stating that the office bearers in the region constitute members from different constituencies.  “We live here harmoniously as a family but if you are not in cooperation then it will never work,” he added.

Further, Advisor H Chuba Chang maintained that there should be no confusion when it comes to the BJP-NDPP alliance as it would remain so.

He also put out a word of caution over the celebration of the MLAs joining the NDPP and said, “We should not sleep on it, or others will run away. We must work tirelessly and work hard to achieve success in the future too.”

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dekhingchem Sangtam, General Secretary, NDPP Tuensang region while N Naong, President, Women Organisation, Tuensang region pronounced the invocation prayer.

Vote of thanks was delivered by Ngakupongsok, Vice President, NDPP Tuensang region followed by benediction prayer by Chimkimong, Working President, NDPP Tuensang region.
