Stating that the North East (NE) region will be a bastion of strong economic growth for the overall benefit of the country, Jacob Zhimomi, Minister, PHED said, “We would’ve never imagined that before 2014, it was a distant dream to see a six-lane road in the Northeast and a four-lane road in Nagaland. But today, it has been possible through the leadership of Narendra Modi.”

The minister made the statement during the occasion of 8 years of the Modi government in power, which was held at Sumi Community hall, Diphupar A for BJP 4 Ghaspani-I constituency on June 15.

He mentioned that “the NE will be the trajectory of the growth story of this country with rich biodiversity, flora and fauna and rich natural resources.”

Zhimomi said that Modi government’s Act East policy has enhanced the region’s reputation as the corridor leading towards South-East Asia. He also highlighted the foreign policies, economic policies, and schemes provided by the Modi government which has made India among the fastest growing economies in the world at 8.2%. For infrastructure as well, he remarked that the road, rail and air connectivity in the State and the NE region has been not for the rich but for benefit of the poor.

Speaking on the schemes provided in Nagaland, the minister noted how many households have benefitted from the likes of Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (free distribution of food grains), Ayushman Bharat (health care), Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (free LPG gas) etc.

Zhimomi however noted that while these have all been implemented in the state, “many are yet to be implemented, but we are ensuring that the schemes are being implemented in a free and fair manner.”

Earlier in the day, the minister also flagged off a bike rally organised by the party workers for the aforementioned occasion. The rally began from Sovima Cricket stadium and culminated at Diphupar A.
