The North East Development Foundation (NEDF) is contributing to aspects of sustainable development like livelihood, natural resource management and rural technology in the north east. The Foundation was in Kohima recently in connection with eNorth East Award 2011 programme.
It focused on educational development, entrepreneurial skill development, vocational training, formation of Self Help Groups, micro finance, gender and empowerment. It is also focused on ICT applications for community development in the north east in every possible way. NEDF vision is to see that its continuous efforts in development interventions in the region in the areas like education, livelihood, technology for development, sustainable development, entrepreneurial development, microfinance, health and information communication technology enables the rise of empowered youth, women, groups and communities in north east India.
“The vision of NEDF is to see that local communities carry on their livelihood interventions on sustainable and qualitative basis through assistance and able guidance from external sources.” NEDF interventions and involvement in development initiatives in northeast India takes the following courses and use of delivery platforms; carrying out development initiatives as an independent entity, execution of development projects as implementation agency for development partners, technical backstopping agency providing support to development projects, executing research and strategy management for development partners to fulfilled development goals, performing tasks as monitoring and evaluation agency to evaluate project deliverables either for independent projects or on behalf of development partners, act as an advocacy and consultancy organization for development projects in the north east, execute development related publication initiatives either independently or on behalf of partners on no loss no gain principle.
