‘Need to regain and retain good qualities of past culture’

Phek Village | December 29: “Culture is an experience that provides the entire process of human lives and it requires retrospecting oneself especially from the Christian perspectives of what we are doing,” stated Besupra Swuro, PS to Minister for Health & family Welfare, Government of Nagaland
Swuro was addressing the 2011 cultural dance competition of the Phek Students’ Union (PSU) during its 53rd general conference as the special guest on Wednesday at Phek Village local ground.
Stressing on the issue of seeking white collar jobs, he said that in the past, jobs were readily available, however, today with stiff competition only the best survive and therefore one has to give cent percent effort and take guidance from elders in order to make the right career decision.
Urging upon the elderly people from the community to educate the students the real process of cultural reviving, Swuro said, “in today’s world cultures are fast dissipating and retaining the same by the younger generation is the need of the hour. There were pure love among the community in the past but today we are on the verge of losing those good qualities.” Therefore he added that ‘in this fast changing live we need to regain the good qualities of the past.’
President CPO Sovenyi, Finance Secretary CPO, Vezuhu, Api Vadeo-President NPF 19th Phek A/C, Dunepalu-President NPF 19th Phek A/C Women wing were some of the other dignitaries who attended the cultural regale.
Earlier, Veta Soho Social & Cultural Secretary PSU chaired the function, Khatsoyi Venuh, Head Deacon PVBC invoked God’s blessing, Phek Village Youth Society presented indigenous tune and closing remarks was tendered by the leader.
