New Delhi, June 13 (MExN):Amid the controversy surrounding the NEET UG 2024 results, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday announced a re-examination for 1563 candidates who were awarded grace marks in the results declared on June 4. The retest is scheduled on June 23.
This decision comes after the High-Powered Committee's recommendations, following grievances raised regarding the original exam conducted on May 5, 2024, indicated an NTA public notice posted on its official X handle.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024, held on May 5, with over 24 lakh candidates across 4750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 international cities and he results were declared on June 4.
However, issues concerning time loss during the exam prompted the formation of a High-Powered Committee to assess the situation and the subsequent grant of compensatory marks to 1563 affected candidates.
As per the notice, the retest is being conducted after the committee’s recommendations were accepted by the NTA. The re-examination will be conducted only for candidates who were awarded "compensatory marks" during the initial evaluation on June 23 from 2-5:20 PM, with the tentative result on June 30. “Score Cards of all affected (1563) candidates issued on 04.06.2024 will stand cancelled and thus withdrawn,” the NTA said.
However, the results of those affected candidates who do not wish to appear for the re-examination will be declared based on their actual marks (without compensation) obtained in the examination conducted on May 5, 2024, it added.
The admit card for the concerned candidates will be issued subsequently, and a fresh scorecard will be hosted on the website after the examination in case the candidate appears for the re-examination.
Earlier on June 13, the Centre told the Supreme Court that it has cancelled the grace marks given to 1563 candidates who took the examination for admission to MBBS and other such courses.
