Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) has recorded an 80 per cent placement for its MSW 2024–26 batch even before completion of the course, setting a benchmark in professional education and employability in Nagaland and the Northeast.
According to an official update, a majority of the students have been placed as social workers in school settings as language and soft skills mentors at Evanta TCIC Kochi and its associated schools across Kerala, with a minimum monthly salary of ₹35,000 along with insurance and flight tickets, reflecting growing national-level recognition of NEISSR graduates.
NEISSR, a professional and job-oriented institute offering programmes such as Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, and Master of Social Work (MSW), follows an innovative approach to education. The institute is NAAC accredited with a score of 2.98 (B++), holds an NIRF AAA rating, and is permanently affiliated with Nagaland University. It is managed by the Catholic Church in Nagaland and combines value-based education with academic and professional training.
The institute is the only one in the country specialising in peace and conflict transformation within social work education, integrating classroom learning with real-life practice through initiatives such as the Peace Channel movement. Its curriculum blends theory with extensive fieldwork, internships and community engagement, ensuring hands-on experience for students.
Over the past five years, NEISSR has maintained an average placement rate of 78 per cent and is working towards achieving 100 per cent placement for every batch before course completion. Its student-centric model focuses on holistic development, promoting creativity, critical thinking, leadership and collaboration, while emphasising diversity, equity and inclusion.
A key feature of the institute is structured training in 30 employability and life skills, supported by experienced faculty, mentoring, exposure visits, skill-based workshops and partnerships with national-level organisations. It also emphasises personality development, communication skills and leadership training.
Graduates placed in school settings are trained to provide emotional and behavioural support, assist academically, strengthen family-school linkages, respond to crises, promote inclusion and connect students with essential resources. The placements offer competitive salaries, opportunities for professional growth and access to continuous learning.
The achievement underscores NEISSR’s commitment to linking education with employment and nurturing skilled, socially responsible professionals.
