Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): North East Institute of Social Sciences & Research (NEISSR), Dimapur observed National Safety Day on March 4.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Amit Das, Assistant Professor, NEISSR elaborated on the origin and importance of National Safety Day after conducting a fitness exercise with students as part of the ongoing “Fit India” program in the institution.
National Safety Day is a special day for all industrial labours in India. The Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India set up the National Safety Council (NSC) on March 4, 1966 as an autonomous body. The main objective of observing the day is to reduce the rate of industrial accidents and assurance for safety through legislations of labour and practical measures in all three core areas.
Dr Das shared theoretical framework based on the ‘Hawthorne Experiment’ which was initiated in the year 1924 in USA by the Western Electrical Engineer Group.
He stressed on the importance of organizational behavior studies in organizational development its significance in the NGO sector for professional development of social workers.
