Wokha | October 21 : The long awaited office building of Wokha District Transport Office cum Pollution Centre was inaugurated by Parliamentary Secretary for Transport & Communication, Mechanical Engineering, P. Dako Phom this morning at Wokha. Nagaland Transport Department (Motor Vehicles) is believed to be one of the officers in the country using information and technology applications and also one of the highest revenue generating officers of the department in the state.
Addressing the gathering Phom said that to have a new building for the district was a long value dream of the department where staff’s can work comfortably with full amenities so to discharge the service of the people whole heartedly. The completion of the building is a long awaited dream of the department, said Phom while also acknowledging the efforts of the staff for working efficiently and supporting the people and the government by raising revenue. He maintained that Wokha district is the 4th largest Revenue earning department within Transport department by contributing Rs. 1.45 lakhs in the previous year and congratulated the staff of the department headed by the District Transport Officer. “Work is Worship,” said Phom and appealed to the staff to respect their profession, and to be sincere to achieve more to keep the image of the department in the list of excellence and also called for co-operation within the staff’s to do better for the welfare of the people.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Rovilatuo Mor, in his brief address said the assets are established for the interest of the Wokha people adding that it is an obligation for the Kyongs to safeguard the department thereby they can render valuable and better service. Mor also appealed to the public and NGO’s particularly to the Kyong Hoho to continue to extend support for peaceful coexistence and called to maintain joint effort in strengthening the service to take the district ahead in every line of activities.
Representative from Kyong Hoho, also congratulated the department for bringing up the building with great effort and expressed hope that the department will extend the best service to the people. Contractor of the building, Tsenpon Murry constructed the building at an estimate cost of Rs.3 cores and 20 Lakhs. Mention may be made here that the contractor has brought the building to its shape within two years and in addition to that, sources said that the contractor is yet to receive the full amount for the construction, however, understanding the needs of the people, Murry handed over to the government without delay.
The function was chaired by Secretary, Transport C.M.Tsanglao while welcome address was delivered by Transport Commissioner H. Achumi. Rev. Sulumo Ezung, Pastor Wokha Town Baptist Church (WTBC) pronounced invocation and vote of thanks was proposed by DTO, Wokha Myamo Jami. Thungchobeni R. Tsopoe Campus Icon 2011 also presented special number.
