Dimapur, September 25 (MExN): Meyilong sub-centre building was inaugurated on September 24 by Dr. Toshevi Sema, Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare and Mission Director NRHM. The sub centre had been functioning since 2001 in a house constructed by village council. The new building has been constructed under NRHM fund.
Dr. Sema lauded the villagers for donating site for construction of the sub-centre. She said the sub-centre belongs to the community and that the villagers should take responsibility in taking care of it. She encouraged the villagers to contribute more towards the uplift of the sub-centre, and at the same time encouraged the health workers to extend their best services to the community. The Meyilong Village Council chairman thanked the department for looking into the needs of the community by constructing the building. After the inauguration programme the official team held a meeting with the medical officers. On September 25, the team also visited IMDH, Nursing school and hostel and the radio therapy unit.
A new health sub- center funded by the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was inaugurated in Pukhato village on September 16. The health centre, which will cover a large population of at least eight villages in the area was opened by N. Hushili Sema,Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur. The DC encouraged the villagers to protect and preserve the facility provided by the government for the benefit of the villagers. The village council of Pukhato village has thanked the Department of Health and Family Welfare for funding and constructing a building for sub-health centre at the village which was functioning without at a proper building since it was granted the village in 2003. The council has also expressed gratitude to the DC, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sukhato Wotsa and his staff for timely completion of the building.
A new Sub-centre building was also inaugurated at Longpa on September 24, 2011 by Dr. Imtimeren Jamir, Principal Director, Health & Family welfare in presence of Dr. G Kemp Joint Director, Dr. Neikietuo Joint Director, Dr.Ngangshimeren Deputy Director, Dr.N.Bendang Jamir CMO and Dr.Chuba DTO. During a brief inaugural programme the chief guest Dr. Imtimeren Jamir lauded the villagers for successful completion of the building on time and said that it is the responsibility of the community to initiate and contribute for the advancement of the sub centre. He also added, though sub centre is the smallest health unit, yet activities for prevention starts from this. He called upon the health workers to be dedicated in delivering their services to the community.
Joint Director Dr.G Kemp urged to maintain co ordination between the village health committee members and health workers to run the health centre smoothly. Dr.N. Bendang Jamir CMO, Mokokchung also spoke on the proper utilisation of funds. He encouraged the community to have social work at least once a month.
