Lanusongla: Yes, reconciliation of all Naga factions is all well and good. But, what I want to know is -
a) What are the objectives/goals
b) What are the means for achievement of those objectives that this proposed reconciliated group intends to implement.
How do they expect us (the NAGA PEOPLE) to SUPPORT this RECONCILIATION when they won't even tell us what they intend on DOING upon reconciliation. They could well carry on the same duties together as a united reconciled group for all we know?
They need to declare explicitly what their intended OBJECTIVES and ACTIONS upon reconciliation are going to be.
THEY'RE ASKING FOR MY (and yours and every other Naga's) SUPPORT without telling us what it is exactly that they're asking me to support. I won't just blindly support! What do they take us for? Naive and easily swayed by talk of God and their vague allusions to unity? humbug!
Raithu Newmai: If they are so serious on uniting, why can't they just say, lets forget IM, K, NNC, KK etc and come under one banner like Naga Club or Naga council, or any other name?
Molona Longchar:
Resolution 5:
PUT words into action. Will see that we don’t just give lengthy speeches but actually DO what we say.
STOP extortion and not live off the Naga people’s money but to live honestly.
REPENT for being using “Nagaland for Christ” and not being Christ-like.
Resolution 4:
OFFER sincere thanks: Arrrrggghh, stop talking and tell us what are you actually going to DO!!
EXPRESSES: How about expressing sincere apology and giving back what you have robbed from us – peace, progress, stability!
Wapong Longkumer: Lets have some patience, these are just the initial moves. (I watched the recording just now) As Dr. Wati said today, they have gone through a few 'Golmal' even among them, that was his words, and have even witnessed 2-3 splits even after the formation of FNR. He went on to acknowledge and applaud the presence of NSCN (K) and the recently split NNC-(Kiumikam) too in the meeting though they did not speak.
But for me he was very clear on the objective of the FNR. The FNR is committed towards reconciliation amongst all Nagas based on the historical and political rights of the Nagas. We went on to cite example like the letter to Simon Commission in 1929 to the plebiscite of 1951 etc. So that is somewhat highlighted in resolution 3.
We may not be satisfied of today's resolution but it is a giant step because no civil society officially boycotted today's meet. The introduction says it all, it includes our tribal orgs too. Let us pray that something good comes out very soon. In fact today was one of the first on such large scale, Nagas from other states also attended. With this set of resolution the consent of the Nags was taken today. Now if we have any complains then we may have to go back to our respective tribal Hohos.
The NNC-FGN actually asked for forgiveness for past wrongs from the public and it was well received by the gathering.
Samuel Vio: "The purpose of the meeting is for the FNR to report to the people on the status of the Reconciliation process and that during such a meeting it would also invite leaders of all Naga groups (factions) to share its position on reconciliation and its vision for a shared Naga future..."
They promised above and delivered, nothing more, nothing less but expectations were very high naturally and thus the sense of disappointment.
Below is the roadmap:
"We therefore recommend as a matter of urgency the formation of a new expert body to consult, provide and ensure all intellectual, spiritual, logistic and technical expertise necessary towards the next step of the Journey of Common Hope for a shared common future in all urgency and concern."
I'm tempted to say don't hold your breath but I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt and watch the unfolding events keenly.
Ago Iralu: I read through ALL the comments and my final point is: While appreciating what the FNR is doing, I would also agree with Imna Longkumer and Toshi Ao, reconciliation with public. Public’s consent, Public’s voice, referring back to us. Thank you very much FNR but do keep us-Public – in mind in the future proceedings. We are your Backbone, the reason anyone of the factions, government, FNR or otherwise are around. Reconcile with us too so we could reach a better solution. Thank you
K.k. Paul Rutsa: I thought I'll read in today's paper as "all UG groups presented in the reconciliation meet has come under one banner"?? Poor public, especially business wala will be paying to 6-7 taxes even this year.
Abou Mere: Those who (Factions) have participated and agreed upon reconciliation should come under one umbrella, if that happen; than we will have one govt. one tax, it will stop killing (factions war). Even GOI will not take Nagas lightly and will start listening.
