New NSA executive team installed

Dimapur, July 6 (MExN): The Naga Scholars’ Association (NSA) organized an installation programme of the new executive team for the year 2021-2024 on July 4.

The new Executive Council of the NSA for the tenure 2021-2024 will be led by Dr Ngoru Nixon, Assistant Prof, Ambedkar University Delhi as President, K Kokho, Asst Prof, Jamilia Millia Islamia as Vice President and Dr Phuireingam Honchui, Assistant Prof, University of Delhi as General Secretary.

Dr Walunir (Principal, St John Higher Secondary Residency School) welcomed the participants and highlighted the history and chronology of the NSA.

Outgoing NSA President Dr Zuchamo Yanthan reflected on his service of seven years as NSA president. He shared that being in the leadership position has helped him evolve as a person, to be more responsible towards self and society.

He addressed the need for NSA leaders and members to inculcate the quality of humility and encouraged the members to inculcate the spirit of appreciation.

As an ending remark, he emphasized on the vision of NSA as a platform where Naga critical thinkers will emerge and take the society forward, creating spaces to introspect and create an impact.

Dr Lungthuiyang Riamei, outgoing General Secretary of NSA delivered a brief report of NSA.

Dr Veio Pou introduced and welcomed the new executive council for the tenure 2021-2024, Rev C B Samuel, pronounced prayer of blessings for the new executive team of NSA.

The new President, Dr Nixon Ngoru also addressed members and thanked the past executive councils for their contribution in institutionalizing and strengthening the institution and making it known and visible "not just within the confines of the Naga society but to wider audience and beyond."

Recollecting the fervor and commitment of those who were involved in the inception of NSA, he expressed belief that the expansive reach of the NSA accompanied by the renewal of spirit among members would take NSA to greater heights.

The new team and its members were exhorted by Rev Dr Wati Aier, Emeritus Professor, OTS, and Convenor of FNR. He appreciated the constructive work done by Dr Zuchamo Yanthan and his team, for remaining faithful during very difficult times and sustaining the history of NSA. He further congratulated the new team and encouraged them to infuse dynamism within the organization and foster existential and future oriented leadership. 

The programme ended with a vote of thanks by K Kokho, Vice-President, NSA. The rapporteur was Dr Aton Mungleng, outgoing Assistant Finance Secretary of NSA. 

Other members of the new NSA team include Tumchopemo Tsanglao, Asst. Prof, University of Delhi (Joint. Secretary),  Elvina Amongla, Asst Prof, University of Delhi (Finance Secretary), Pansy A Jami, PhD Scholar, JNU (Joint Finance Secretary); and Visieno Kiso, PhD Scholar, JNU,  Paveine Vemai, Asst Prof, University of Delhi and Shimreisa Chahongnao, PhD Scholar, JNU as Executive Secretaries.
