The new office building of the Directorate of Social Welfare was inaugurated today near NBCC Convention Centre, Kohima.
Inaugurating the new building, Noke Wangnao, Advisor, Social Welfare, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Nagaland, encouraged all the staff to work with new zeal and energy for the welfare of the department and for the public in the new office building.
“You will be spending a significant amount of your precious time working in this building. I, therefore request our staffs to use this office with respect and treat it with care as your own property,” Wangnao said. Further, he expressed optimism that the great physical environment that the new building is about to provide will greatly affect the productivity positively.
Landmark achievement
Sarah R Ritse, Commissioner & Secretary for Social Welfare Nagaland said the inauguration of the new office building of the directorate has scripted a landmark achievement of the social welfare department.
She thanked the Advisor for his constant support to ensure that the structure is successfully completed.
“I must thank the state government for acquiring the best and most accessible site and for taking up this project on priority basis and in fulfilling our long-standing need. I must also take this opportunity to thank the officers and staff both past and present, the engineers and all stakeholders in the successful completion of the new directorate building,” she said.
She said the department has long felt the need of a proper building infrastructure to facilitate smarter working environment for better management of administrative tasks, by providing more rooms for housing different programs and cells to enable easy accessibility to the public and beneficiaries.
She was hopeful that the completion of this new office building will boost the morale of all staff and officers to continue to work for the holistic development of the society at large.
“Your office is your field and you will spend most of your time here. I, therefore urge you to invest your valuable time with dedication and zeal in the best interest of our people,” Ritse said.
Also stating that the office building and all its belongings are public property, she said that it is the bounded duty of the staff and officers to treat them with care and respect and restraint from committing any damage to the public property.
Maintain proper office decorum and discipline to nurture best cooperation and harmony so much needed for the success of any organization, and remember, we are cradle to grave ministry and we serve to uplift the children, mothers, downtrodden, disabled, and aged, window and other vulnerable sections of the society, she added.
“I appreciate the beautiful creation of the architect, engineers, and contractors involved. The building has a unique appearance and will surely become landmark,” said K Atoli Sema, Director, Social Welfare, Nagaland
She acknowledged Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his commitment and prompt action towards realizing the vision of bringing all the directorate offices in the close proximity of Nagaland Civil Secretariat complex for the sake of public convenience.
Further, she thanked Noke Wangnao for providing all the support they sought for.
Earlier, the building construction report was given by K John Mera, EE, Social Welfare.
The programme was chaired by Tosheli Zhimomi, Joint Director, Social Welfare while Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho, General Secretary NBCC invoked God’s blessing. Michael Zaren, Officer on Special Duty, Social Welfare proposed the vote of thanks.
