New SDO (Civil) holds meeting with Ralan area leaders

Kohima, August 21 (DIPR): A meeting of the all the VCCs, GBs, VDB Secys of Ralan Sub-Division and Ralan Area Public leaders was held with the new SDO (Civil) Ralan, Kethosituo Sekhose at Town Hall Ralan on 20th Aug, 2011. The meeting was called by the SDO (Civil) to establish acquaintance between the Administration, Govt Departments and Area leaders and the people.
The meeting was attended by, other than the SDO (Civil), the 2nd OC Ralan PS, the Post Commander NAP F ‘Coy Ralan, all DBs, GBs, VCCs, VDB Secys, President RALH, President RASU, Ralan Area Eloe Hoho, Border Peace Committee, Ralan area Dimapur Union, and Govt officials of Ralan sub-division.
During the course of discussion the main problems expressed by the public leaders were shortage of teachers in the schools, non maintenance of the only arterial road connecting Ralan with Wokha and Dimapur, water supply in the hill section, restrictions on bringing in materials for construction/repair of private houses and even movement of people by the neutral forces, lack of proper medical facilities and border sensitivity.
The new SDO (C) explained about the Thirteenth Finance Commission award for Rural Local Bodies and the State Specific Needs and basic objectives of the grants and also encouraged the people of the area to make full use of the grants for development of the area. As for the problems being faced by the people he stated that as and when petitions are received from the people, the matter will be taken up with the Government through the established channels and that even for writing petitions, he ensured that the people will be given assistance, wherever required. It was also decided that regular visits of all the villages under Ralan sub-division will be undertaken by the Administration along with area leaders to take stock of situations and verify implementation of Government programmes.
The highlight of the day also included giving of cash awards by the Administration to three GBs namely, Renthungo of Old Ralan, Ntheo of Woroku and Orenthung of Liphayan for their exemplary service to the Government and the people of the area.
