Mokokchung, April 16 (MExN): The Mokokchung Police has issued a new traffic regulation which will come into effect from April 18. In this regard, the SP Mokokchung has requested the public and all stakeholders to comply with the order in the interest of public safety and for smooth flow of traffic.
According to the order, the entry and no entry of heavy vehicles into the Mokokchung town will be as follows:
• No Entry of Heavy Vehicles (7:00 am to 6:00 pm)
• Window period for movement of heavy vehicles passing through Mokokchung Town (11:00 am to 12 noon)
All construction materials and stationary vehicle lying along the National Highway are directed to be removed immediately for smooth flow of traffic.
“Usage of modified vehicle silencer is not only illegal but causes noise pollution. Hence, vehicle owners are informed to immediately cease- such usage,” the SP Mokokchung said.
The following stretches of National Highways are designated as ‘One Side Parking Zone’:
• Rotary Point (Mariani Road Police Point) to Assam Rifle ground Mongsenbai
• Sewak junction to Merepkong Ward Junction. (Public are informed to park at only one side of the road as designated)
Meanwhile, the order stated that Administration, Police, Para-Military, Fire & Emergency Service, Medical and Power are exempted.
“Any violation of the aforementioned order will be penalized under Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act 2019,” it cautioned.
