KOHIMA, AUGUST 25 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner Kohima has issued new directives in order to streamline and improve traffic management in Kohima Town. As per the new order, commercial taxis shall not be allowed to enter from Lower PWD Junction and exit from Middle Midland Junction near Oking Hospital between 09:00 AM and 05:00 PM on all days, with immediate effect.”
The order also requested that “the general public is requested to extend full cooperation with the authorities for successful implementation.” In a separate order, the Deputy Commissioner pointed out that rampant unauthorized parking of vehicles along the roadsides in Kohima Town has been reported, leading to obstruction in the movement of vehicles.
“In the interest of better traffic management, the road from Fira Hotel to Assamese Church under Jail Colony, Ward-19, has been declared a ‘No Parking Zone’ on all days, with immediate effect,” the DC stated. The order further cautioned that “any defaulting vehicles shall be towed at the expense of the vehicle owners and will be liable for penalty under Section 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.”
