NFHRCC adopts several resolutions to ensure smooth works of Foothill Road

DIMAPUR, JUNE 10 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) held a meeting on June 8 and adopted several resolutions to ensure smooth works at Foothill Road constructions.

A press release from the NFHRCC informed that the meeting decided to write a letter to the respective villages/areas where “some overlapping of works” have arisen to reach an amicable settlement. The committee also identified certain “vital points” regarding additional construction of bridges/culverts in certain sectors, particularity in the Niuland-Huvekhu–Old Ralan stretch. Further, it called for immediate repair of the hanging bridge over the Dikhu River in the Naganimora sector.

In order to ascertain a clear picture of the ongoing motorable road construction, the committee resolved to have a sitting with all the affected divisional EEs/SDOs, PWD(R&B) along with respective contractor firms with due permission from the CE, PWD(R&B) preferably on June 17.

The committee further appealed to the competent authority to judiciously utilize the remaining amount of Rs 3 Crore out of the Rs 20 Crore for the Foothills Road construction.

The committee noted that it visited Peren district on April 22-23 and observed the pathetic road conditions, particularity from Athibung to Khelma. It appealed to the State Government and the PWD (R&B) to make the road pliable.

Further, the committee appealed to all the contractors who are dealing with logs/mining and stone business not to ply their heavy vehicles extensively as it will damage the newly constructed road. It asked the concerned contractors to maintain the road for common benefit. The village authorities in which the Foothills Road falls have also been asked to maintain vigil in their respective areas.

Regarding the Doyang bridge inauguration, the committee expected better coordination from the concerned department and the contractor firm.

Meanwhile, it asked the tribal hohos who are yet to give their financial contributions for the exigency fund to do the same.
