NFR celebrates 150 Years of Vande Mataram

MALIGAON, NOVEMBER 7 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) celebrated the 150th anniversary of the national song "Vande Mataram" with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour across its jurisdiction.

The main event was organised at the NFRSA Complex in Maligaon, where Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR, led the programme in the presence of a large gathering of senior officials, railway staff, and their families.

The celebration reflected a deep sense of national unity as railway personnel, school children, and members of various organisations sang the full version of "Vande Mataram" in unison, transforming the venue into a resounding tribute to India's spirit of freedom and cultural heritage.

Similar celebrations were held at the GM (Construction) office in Maligaon and across all five NFR divisions—Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurduar, and Katihar. Major railway stations, schools, and offices also marked the day with patriotic songs, cultural performances, and community participation.

A synchronized Mass Singing of the full version of "Vande Mataram" was held at around 9:50 AM across the country, including at various NFR locations. The event saw railway staff, school children, and local residents joining their voices, generating a wave of positive energy, unity, and pride.

Composed by Bankimchandra Chatterji on November 7, 1875, and first published in his novel Anandamath, "Vande Mataram" symbolizes India's indomitable spirit. The 150th anniversary marks a proud milestone, reaffirming the nation's resolve to uphold harmony, patriotism, and national pride.
