NFR commissions Automatic Ticket Vending Machines

Maligaon, November 29 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commissioned 21 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across 15 key stations in the Alipurduar Division.

The machines, which have been fully operational since November 17, are part of the Indian Railways' initiative towards digital transformation and enhancing passenger amenities, an NFR spokesperson said.

The move is aimed at promoting digital ticketing, reducing congestion at Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters, and enabling passengers to obtain unreserved journey tickets and platform tickets quickly through a cashless interface.

"With the facility to use smart cards, passengers can now experience faster ticketing services, especially during peak travel hours, thereby minimising waiting time at conventional booking counters," the spokesperson said.

The ATVMs have been installed at New Coochbehar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar, Alipurduar Junction, New Mal Junction, Hasimara, Dinhata, Dalgaon, Fakiragram Junction, Jalpaiguri Road, Dhubri, Gossaigaon Hat, Bamanhat, Dhupguri and Falakata stations.

The commissioning of these machines is expected to significantly enhance passenger convenience by offering a user-friendly digital alternative to manual ticket purchasing, the official added.
