NFR nears completion of Kamakhyaguri Station redevelopment

Maligaon, November 17 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced that the redevelopment of the Kamakhyaguri Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) is on the verge of completion.

According to an NFR statement, the station has undergone major upgrades, including a new station building with an improved entrance lobby and circulating area.

The platforms have been renovated with Kota-stone surfacing, and a new 12-meter wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with lift facilities has been constructed, the statement said.

Other enhancements include new waiting halls, upgraded toilet blocks, improved parking, and multiple-theme lighting. The station's aesthetics have been enriched with local art, cultural elements, and beautification of the surroundings, it added.

Under the ABSS, a total of 92 stations across the NFR are being redeveloped in phases. Of these, 50 stations are in Assam, 23 in West Bengal, 9 in Bihar, 4 in Tripura, and 6 in other North-Eastern states, where works are “progressing at various stages,” the railway zone said.

The NFR reiterated its commitment to delivering “world-class facilities and modern travel experiences” to the people of the region, stating that these transformations align with the national vision for a modernised railway network.
