Maligaon, May 23 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on May 23 organised Rozgar Melas in Guwahati, Dimapur and Siliguri as part of the Government of India’s nationwide employment initiative aimed at youth empowerment and job generation.
The programme was held in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s employment generation initiative and provided appointment letters to newly recruited candidates selected for various central government departments.
Prime Minister Modi participated in the Rozgar Mela programme through video conferencing at 11 am and addressed the newly appointed candidates across the country.
According to NFR, over 51,000 appointment letters were distributed nationwide during the programme.
Addressing the appointees, the prime minister urged the youth to dedicate themselves to nation-building and public service, while highlighting the government’s emphasis on transparent, merit-based and technology-driven recruitment processes.
This edition of the Rozgar Mela was conducted simultaneously at 47 locations across the country, including three venues under the jurisdiction of NFR.
Around 400 participants attended physically at each venue, including nearly 200 newly recruited candidates, NFR said.
At Guwahati, the programme was organised at Rang Bhawan Auditorium at the NFR headquarters in Maligaon in the presence of Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal and Lok Sabha MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi.
Senior railway officials led by NFR Additional General Manager Veer Bhadra Vishwakarma and other dignitaries were also present. Appointment letters were handed over to newly recruited candidates during the event.
The Dimapur programme was held at the Town Hall in the presence of Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita along with senior officials and invited dignitaries.
In Siliguri, the programme took place at the Officers’ Club, Kashmir Colony, New Jalpaiguri, in the presence of Minister of State for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan, Jalpaiguri MP Dr Jayanta Kumar Roy and local MLAs.
The appointments covered various ministries and departments including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, among others.
