MALIGAON, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced a substantial increase in freight loading for August 2024, highlighting a continued upward trend in its operations.
During the month, NFR handled 0.803 million tonnes of freight across various commodities, a press release issued by CPRO-NFR informed on Tuesday.
The data shows remarkable growth in several key areas compared to the same period last year. Cement loading surged by 112.5%, while Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (POL) loading rose by 3.7%. Fertilizer loading also saw a notable increase of 100%. Additionally, timber and ballast loading increased by 1500% and 13%, respectively. Miscellaneous items recorded a growth of 122.2% in freight loading.
This robust performance underscores the growing economic activity in the region. The cumulative freight loading for NFR up to August 2024 has reached 4.477 million tonnes, marking an 8% increase from the same period last year. This positive trend not only reflects the railway's enhanced operational efficiency but also contributes significantly to regional economic development and revenue generation.
