NH-29 near Old KMC dumping site in Kohima temporarily closed

KOHIMA, AUGUST 26 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima has ordered the temporary closure of a section of National Highway-29 near the Old KMC dumping site at Chainage KM 175.350, citing safety concerns.

According to the order, a thorough assessment by the concerned authorities found the affected stretch unfit for vehicular traffic. The closure is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

Alternative routes have been notified for different categories of vehicles. Light motor vehicles can use the Jotsoma Bypass Road and the Peducha Bridge–Tsiesema route, while heavy vehicles, district-bound vehicles, military and paramilitary vehicles, compact and mid-size pickups, as well as heavy and mid-size commercial passenger vehicles, are advised to follow the 10 Mile Road.

The Deputy Commissioner’s office has warned that violation of the order will be liable for prosecution under relevant sections of law.
