NH- 39 a gradual improvement

The really very pathetic condition of national highway-39 has being improve to some extent due to the minor repairs being carried out few weeks back in and around Senapati-Karong town area. Thanks to the generosity of the government in sanctioning the amount for it.

Still then, when visitors from other areas happen to transverse through the same route they would in no way belief that, the road is own and maintain by the government, forget being a national highway. Thanks to the bumpy ride from the million potholes, this in one way is the first welcoming gesture to the visitors, and the impression that MANIPUR is in no way a modern day state as the government cannot maintain the life-line of its citizen.

No doubt, packages from the centre are sent from time to time for maintenance of the highway but in no way it is put to use. Indeed when the packages are withdrawn from the bank in form of crisp notes by the contractors to whom the work is allowed. It disappear all together sometimes with no or little work carried out.

And the authorities in charge took no notice of it or leave it to dry out. indeed some contractors made a fortune by winning a single tender bids, as almost 85 percent of the work cost goes into their pocket(this happens mostly to persons with political and underground backings).now it is not a mystery where the packages meant for the development of roads goes.

Technically speaking, NH-39 is but a grievous mistake of the engineers involved in its maintanence. When the tracks are supposed to be flat (somewhere at 180°) accommodating no potholes.NH-39 can find its place in the Guinness book of record for the highest number of potholes on a national highway. not only that ,the black topped surfaced is not at all flat(something like the top of a slanting loaf of bread)on the other hand ,can a highway be laid without sideways drainage?NH-39 is among one in its merit list.

With the waters flowing down from in its slant track (as there is no drainage to contained them).the road looks like, but a man made waterfall. And it is extremely difficult to access through it during rainy season. Not only has this, water seeps through the pores of the tracks, disturbing its components, made it to compress when pressure is applied over it. Thus clotting out is guaranteed. This means more frequent repairs and more money to spend.

Summing up my views I would like to remind the government that .However modern IMPHAL City looks through the various modernization process carried out in various ways, the opinion of the people that Manipur IS NOT A MODERN DAY STATE will never change if the NH-39 is not modernize.

Also I would urged the authority in charge to employ the best engineers in the maintenance of the highway and to show transparency in belting out the central government packages for the maintenance of the highways make the best use of the packages so that our highways can be modernize in tune with the development of our society. So that it may serve us, on our way to an economically self reliant state.
