Kohima, June 2 (MExN): The Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) has been granted National MusQan Certification under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), becoming the first district hospital in Nagaland to achieve the recognition.

According to a press release from the District Programme Management Unit (DPMU), National Health Mission (NHM), Kohima, NHAK underwent the MusQan National Assessment on April 17 and 18 and received certification on May 18.

The assessment was conducted by empanelled NQAS National Assessors Samiran Sarma from Assam and Krishna Kumari Sharma from Sikkim. The certification was achieved under the leadership of Dr Rüütuo-ü Sorhie, Head of the Department of Paediatrics, along with senior specialists Dr Khriemenuo Koza and Dr Avono Sophie.

NHAK's Department of Paediatrics secured an overall MusQan score of 93.11%. The Paediatrics Ward scored 88.68%, Paediatrics OPD 91.28%, Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) 96.32%, Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) 95.81%, while the patient satisfaction score stood at 84%.

 

The release stated that MusQan is a Government of India initiative aimed at improving the quality of care for children up to 12 years of age in public health facilities through child-friendly healthcare services and measures to reduce preventable newborn and child morbidity and mortality.

Key focus areas under the programme include Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment (ETAT), Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), infection prevention and control, biomedical waste management, record keeping, clinical protocols, and respectful family participatory care.

The release said the certification reflects the collective efforts of the Department of Paediatrics, the MusQan team and all categories of staff at NHAK in strengthening paediatric healthcare services. It added that the recognition marks a significant milestone in the hospital's efforts to enhance quality patient care and healthcare services.
