NHIDCL terminates Gayatri’s contract; Kronu lauds decision

Kohima, July 15 (MExN): Nagaland Minister, Neiba Kronu has lauded and appreciated the Government of India-owned National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) for “taking timely decision on termination of Gayatri Projects Ltd. (GPL) EPC Mode contract worth Rs. 340 Crore of the 4-laning Kohima-Dimapur road.”

Kronu, who is the minister for Planning & Co-ordination, Land Revenue & Parliamentary ‘Affairs, also appreciated the “landmark judgement on dismissal of the Writ Petition filed by the GPL against the termination of contract by the Guwahati High Court, Kohima Bench.” “This will also cement the public faith in the judiciary to mete out immediate redressal to the common masses,” he stated in a press release. 

The Minister said that the general public had suffered enough because of the irresponsible contractors in many ways.
"Enough is enough and the time has come for the people of Nagaland to appreciate such decision of NHIDCL and the Guwahati High Court," he asserted. 

He also urged all stake holders and everyone to “join hands together and appreciate such decision of the Corporation and the Court for better future.”  According to reports, the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court on July 14 upheld the order issued by the NHIDCL on June 1. 2021, terminating the contract awarded to GPL.
