Niathu Sports Festival: Venuzo Dawhou wins wrestling event

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 25 (MExN): Day 2 of the Niathu Sports Festival saw events in several disciplines on October 25. 


In the wrestling event, Venuzo Dawhou won the title by defeating Kedovilie Zumu. The winner received a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 while the runners up was given Rs 50,000. Rs 10,000 each was also awarded to semifinalists Vecheta Khesoh and Vekutho Soho. 


In the volleyball events, Lamkang Brothers, Sumi Games and Sport Association, Sukushomi Club Dimapur, team DGP Nagaland, M-H-10 Kohima, and Jorhat booked their spots in the semi finals.  


On October 26, Lamkang Brothers will take on Jorhat Team at 8:00am; while DGP Nagaland will clash with M-H-10 Kohima at 9:30am. 


The day also saw 118 people participate in the angling tournament which was held at Noune Resort, Dimapur. In the Carp category, Imchenchang came first with the biggest catch of 5.7 Kg, receiving Rs. 50,000. Phukato with a catch weighing 1.6 Kg came second and received Rs. 25,000 while Rhonbemo came third with a catch of 1.375 Kg, winning Rs 15,000. 


In the Kawai (Tilapia) category, Hiralal with a total catch of 127 pieces was the winner and won Rs 10,000. Limathung Sujit came second and won Rs. 5,000, while Temsupokba Mustafa came in third and was awarded Rs. 3,000.


Meanwhile, Vilasier Khate defeated Vikhozolie Khate; and Vitsizolie Nagi defeated Thejaser Khate in lawn tennis to secure places in the final to be held on October 26. 


In the doubles event, Thejaser Khate & Vilasier Khate along with Vikhozolie Khate & Kikrusetuo Sekhose secured the final spots to be played on Saturday. 


The snooker events saw wins for John Calvin, Shilu, Iloka Shohe, and Yanger Lkr in Group A. In Group B, Kezhavito Vizo, Kihevi Zhimo, Justin Shikhu and Jubito Sumi emerged as winners on the day.
