NIC activities highlighted in Kohima DPDB

Kohima, May 17 (DIPR): The monthly Kohima District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on May 16 at DC’s conference hall, Kohima under the chairmanship of Chairman, Kohima DPDB, Vikho-o Yhoshu. The board reviewed the last meeting minutes and ADC Planning, Ketoho Luho appraised the house on the activities under Village Vision Cell and the progress made so far. He said that the response has been very encouraging and hoped that the programme would benefit all concerned.
Principle Systems Analyst & DIO, NIC, Kohima District Centre, Er. J. G. Lorin Rengma presented  a brief report on ICT infrastructure of NIC and its activities under Kohima District Centre. He said that NIC State and District Units were established in the year 1989 with the signing of MoU between Government of Nagaland and Government of India. Giving an overview of the network at NIC Kohima District center, he stated that it has provided 2Mbps Leased Line from NIC Sectt. to all the District Routers, LAN in & around DC’s Office=8 Nodes, Wi-Max= 10 Nodes ( Pilot project), 2 Nos. of Leased Line Connecting through the Router of NIC Kohima- (i) Dir. of Postal Services, Kohima and (ii) State Information Commission (RTI) with VC Studio. He also dwelt on WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, Video Conferencing Facilities in Nagaland, Executive Videoconferencing System Network on Leased Line based IP Network of NICNET etc.
Er. J. G. Lorin Rengma said that the website of Kohima district is under construction and will be hosted on the NET very shortly. District level Department and Organization can host any information that can be of service to the citizens on the website. The URL of Kohima District Website is:  . He also appraised the house on some of the Departmental Projects assisted by NIC that include ILP, Vahan/Sarathi, National Permit, CCTNS/CIPA, Arms License Computerization, CONFONET, Traffic Offence Monitoring System, Tele-education, NADRS and Randomization.
District Nodal Officer, Tobacco Control Board, Dr. Atsungla gave a brief overview of the health activities under Kohima district and also stressed on tobacco and its ill effects. She also gave a profile on tobacco consumption in Nagaland and highlighted the various health hazards due to consumption of tobacco.
