NIPF Advisor seeks review of police recruitment ad over tribal inclusion

Dimapur, October 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Indigenous People's Forum (NIPF) Advisor has expressed deep concern over the non-inclusion of indigenous Garo, Kachari, Kuki, and Mikir (Karbi) tribes in the district-wise reservation for Nagaland Police posts.

In a statement, Khehoto Kiho Swu, Founder Member and Advisor of the NIPF, highlighted that these four tribes are notified in the Constitution's (Nagaland) Scheduled Tribe Order of 1970.

The statement cited various government orders from 1969, 1972, 1973, and 1983 that specified 100 per cent reservation for non-technical Grade III and IV posts, and 80 per cent for other categories, for ‘any Naga Tribe, Kuki, Garo, Kachari, and Mikir tribes of the state of Nagaland.’

‘However, the recent advertisement dated 30th September for the 2025 recruitment has totally ignored the above and discriminated against the stated minority tribes, who should have been given the same treatment,’ Swu said.

The NIPF Advisor has therefore requested the Government of Nagaland to ‘review the advertisement to bring justice and equality among all the indigenous tribes of our state.’
