NIPF condemns inaction of govt in violence-hit Manipur

Dimapur, June 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) has questioned the Manipur State Government and the Central Government, as to “why the violent situation in Manipur goes uncontrolled and mobs are allowed to take control of the roads and streets.”

NIPF in a press statement issued through its Media Cell said the silence of the Prime Minister of India over the violence in Manipur is shocking. “Is this the new India which he has been talking about? Is this what the CM of Manipur vision in his mission "Go to Hills" program?” it inquired.

During its meeting held on June 8, the forum has also condemned the burning of villages and churches and the inaction of the Central government in Delhi and State government in Imphal in curbing the violence and bringing back normalcy in the land. “Instead of controlling the situation and bringing back normalcy, it is rather shocking to see the videos and images that appeared in various medias where state uniformed personals are seen leading mobs followed by people in black dresses attacking settlements of other communities even when Section 144 and 355 of the IPC have been imposed in the state of Manipur,” it stated.

Further, NIPF expressed condolence to the bereaved families and prayed for the early recovery of all the injured due to the violence.
