NISC demands Nepal Govt to release Anthony

Dimapur, October 3 (MExN): The Naga International Support Center (NISC) has demanded the Nepal government to immediately release Anthony Shing and has alleged that Anthony’s arrest was a violation of human rights.

The NISC in a press note stated that it is greatly disturbed by the denial of arresting Anthony Shing and suspects that Nepal Government is "allowing and working hand in glove" with the Government of India.

“Since the Nepali Government has no strained relations with the Naga People and those who represent them, as in the past lots of Nagas have been to and have lived in Nepal, it is therefore astounding the Government of Nepal ordered the arrest of Anthony Shing. These questions then remain: How can a human being get lost in a tightly secured place like an airport? And, as he has no black records, is the Government of Nepal solely responsible for Mr. Anthony disappearance? His’ is not an isolated case,” it stated.

The note stated that Anthony Shing is a high ranking officer of the NSCN, He left Bangkok for Kathmandu by Royal Nepal Airlines on September 27, 2010. Though he was to be received by friends and was checked into a hotel, he did not emerge from immigration and both friends and the hotel personnel present failed to get information about his whereabouts. His friends then approached a Human Rights organization which inquired at the Police Office, Hanuman Dhoka, Kathmandu, and the Tourist Police at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, about Anthony but were told that no record was found. The Human Rights group tried but did not succeed to obtain copies of relevant documents a proof, e.g. the immigration arrival record, or the Royal Nepal Airlines’ passengers list of flight RA 402 of September 27. The Human Rights group asked the police at Tribhuvan International Airport to provide information of any arrest or detention, but was told that they knew nothing about Anthony and denied his arrest.

Moreover, the Deputy Superintendent of Police at the airport also maintained he knew nothing about Anthony and further mentioned it was better to stay away from such case. Later it was learned from a reliable source within the government that Anthony Shing was arrested right after going through immigration and taken to the departure gate, the note said.
