Niuland citizens reiterate ultimatum to Dimapur police over assault case

Dimapur, March 8 (MExN): Niuland citizens have reiterated its warning to the police administration in Dimapur that they will not hesitate to act if no action is taken against the police personnel of a mobile squad who allegedly assaulted the president of the Niuland Area Citizens’ Forum (NACF) on February 23. The NACF is said to have lost his hearing now after a mobile police squad allegedly assaulted Isak G Zhimomi.

The NACF issued a letter today reminding that the dateline, March 11, given to the authorities to take action against the rogue policemen is nearing. The police are yet to act and are reluctant to meet the demands of Niuland’s citizens and this shall invite an own course of action if the police refuses to deliver justice, the NACF stated.

The organization is demanding immediate termination of service of the police personnel involved in the alleged assault. Also, the citizens are demanding that the authorities bear all medical expenses incurred u the treatment of the alleged victim. The victim is now impaired for life and the authorities must see that “it be restored in whatsoever manner,” the NACF stated. 

“Now, therefore, the NACF hereby while affirming to stand on its previous demand, put forth a strong reminder to the Superintendent of Police, Dimapur to deliver fair justice at the earliest possible time. The NACF shall not hesitate to take any course of action on the failure or negligence to (deliver) justice by the authority concern,” the NACF stated.
