Niuland DPDB reviews development, stresses on preparedness for census

Niuland, April 7 (MExN): The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Niuland held its meeting on April 7 at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Minister for PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi.

The meeting reviewed developmental activities and discussed priorities for the district. Minutes of the previous meeting held on February 26 were also reviewed, including plans for field visits to verify implementation of government projects.

During the meeting, the Minister appreciated Deputy Commissioner Sara S Jamir for her service and contributions to the district and wished her well in her future responsibilities.

He stressed the importance of the upcoming census and called for awareness among the public through meetings with Gaon Buras and Village Councils. He also highlighted the need for Aadhaar enrolment and accurate data collection.

Issues relating to infrastructure, staff shortages, and the need to establish offices for key departments were discussed. Matters concerning inter-state coordination in border areas were also deliberated.

In her address, Deputy Commissioner Sara S Jamir highlighted improvements in road connectivity, project implementation, and progress in sectors such as education and healthcare. She also noted challenges including shortage of staff and limited infrastructure.

The board discussed repair of the ceiling of the multipurpose hall-cum-auditorium at Government High School, Agunaqa, and took up developmental issues concerning the area.

A presentation on departmental activities was delivered by Limaangtet Jamir, DFO/Forest Ranger, focusing on conservation and forest management.

The Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry will present its activities in the next meeting. The board also discussed organising a fish festival to promote local economic opportunities.
