NLA Deputy Speaker Toiho Yeptho speaking at the 100 Years of Christianity Celebration in Phuye Old Village.
PHUYE, DECEMBER 21 (MExN): Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, S Toiho Yeptho, delivered an inspiring address at the celebration marking 100 years of Christianity in Phuye Old Village. His speech reflected a profound understanding of Christian faith and its practical application in daily life.
In his message, Toiho emphasized that Christianity is not just about rituals or outward appearances but about living one’s faith through actions and deeds. He highlighted the teachings of Jesus to Nicodemus, particularly the importance of repentance, and underscored the essence of the Ten Commandments, which Jesus simplified into two key principles: loving God and loving one’s neighbor.
Toiho urged the congregation to engage in introspection, emphasizing the need for individuals to judge themselves honestly and strive to be true Christians. His words encouraged humility, kindness, and a commitment to serving others. Reflecting on his own life, Toiho shared that his rise to leadership as Deputy Speaker was a result of the prayers and blessings of his ancestors, who had prayed fervently for their descendants to be guided by God.
He also stressed the importance of helping others not for recognition or pride, but out of genuine love and compassion. Toiho cautioned against boasting about good deeds, advising the congregation to keep acts of kindness between themselves and God, as true generosity stems from a pure heart.
In his concluding remarks, Toiho highlighted the power of faith, prayer, and the enduring legacy of Christian values handed down through generations. He called upon the congregation to continue this legacy by living a life of faith, love, and service, inspiring others through their actions.
