KOHIMA, AUGUST 8 (MExN): Nagaland Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer and the Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (Ex-PAN) have condoled the death of former legislator Nüngsangyapang, who passed away at Mokokchung on Friday.
In his message, Longkumer said he learnt of the demise with profound sorrow, noting that the late leader was a close contemporary of his late father.
A two-time MLA, Nüngsangyapang represented the 23rd Impur Assembly Constituency with “dedication and devotion”, the Speaker said, adding that his political career was deeply rooted in community service and his leadership extended beyond politics.
Longkumer also recalled that the former legislator was a passionate sportsman who represented Nagaland and various institutions in prestigious football tournaments, including the National School Games, Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament and the NEHU football team.
“He was a man of the people, whose humility, warmth and tireless efforts will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will continue to inspire generations,” the Speaker said.
The Ex-PAN, in a separate condolence message, said Nüngsangyapang had been a member of the association since 2013.
Ex-PAN president Joshua SÜmi said the late leader worked tirelessly for the welfare and uplift of the people of his constituency, the Ao community, and the Nagas at large.
Terming his death a great loss to the association and the state, the Ex-PAN conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for God’s comfort and strength for them. “May his soul rest in eternal peace,” it added.
