Kohima, January 22 (MExN): Vikho-o Yhoshu and N. Jacob Zhimomi cease to be the members of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from January 20 with the acceptance of their resignation letters by the Speaker Dr Imtiwapang Aier.
Consequent upon the resignations, the Speaker has declared the seats under 14– Southern Angami-I (ST) and 4– Ghaspani (ST) Assembly Constituencies as vacant w.e.f. 20.01.2018, informed a press release issued by the NLA Secretariat.
Yoshu, who represented the ruling Naga People's Front (NPF) in the last election from Southern Angami-I AC resigned from the Assembly and the Party on January 20. Consequently, he also quit the post of Advisor to the Chief Minister with cabinet status. Sources said he is most likely to join the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
Zhimomi, who was elected to the Assembly as an independent candidate from 4 Ghaspani-I AC, later joined the NPF led DAN coalition and held positions like Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation and Flood Control and Advisor, Public Health Engineering Department for the Government of Nagaland.
He formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on January 22.
