Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie during the inauguration of the Kohima–Pedi-Peren road accompanied by Brigadier Arun Joshi, Chief Engineer, Project Sewak.
Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): NLA Speaker Kiyanilie Peseyie today inaugurated the improvement of Kohima-Pedi-Peren road being taken up by 15 Border Roads Task Force and funded by General Staff under Ministry of Defence. Being a main assess to Kohima, improvement of this road will immensely help the populace of village enroute namely Jotsoma, Khonoma, Pedi and Peren to fulfill their economic as well as social aspirations, informed a press note received here.
Brigadier Arun Joshi, Chief Engineer (P) Sewak (BRO) told that the road Kohima-Pedi-Peren was initially constructed by BRO during early eighties and was further handed over to Nagaland State PWD during year 2000. The road has been approved by MO4 for its development to Cl-9 enhanced specifications under LTPP (Priority-I) and was included for improvement after tireless efforts by Project Sewak.
Speaker admired the working of BRO and appreciated the untiring services rendered by the organization for construction as well as maintenance of roads in remote areas in the state of Nagaland. The Speaker praised the efforts of the BRO during the recent cloudbursts in maintaining the roads. He also complemented the Project Sewak for taking pains in getting the work sanctioned. The speaker also appealed to the public as well as land owners of the area to co-operate with the BRO officials for smooth functioning of the construction activities on the road so that the project can be accomplished within the stipulated time.
The inauguration ceremony was attended in large numbers by the locals of Jotsoma, Khonoma and nearby villages. The children of Christian Welfare School Khonoma participated in the event.
