DIMAPUR, JULY 17 (MExN): The Network of Nagaland Drugs and AIDS Organisation (NNagaDAO) has initiated a non-cooperation movement against YR Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education (YRG Care) Chennai.
A press release from the NNagaDAO, the apex body of NGOs and CBOs working in the field of Drugs and HIV & AIDS in Nagaland, informed this in a circular to all its constituent partners across the state.
Ketho Angami, General Secretary-NNagaDAO, in the press release, said that this move was necessitated as a result of an issue about the “need to understand the roles and responsibilities of YRG care, Johns Hopkins University, and the NGOs, as claimed by YRG Care as their contracted partner/s.”
“However, YRG Care has not provided any clarity on the subject matter, despite, NNagaDAO's repeated effort to seek such clarity from YRG Care through series of communication. But, it transpired that YRG Care has no interest in addressing the concern of the Network, and resolving the matter,” it claimed.
It said that until such issues are settled amicably, NNagaDAO would not cooperate with YRG Care in the state. It directed all partner NGOs and CBOs to be apprised of the matter and adhere to the non-cooperation stand of the network.
The NNagaDAO is an issue-based advocacy platform that exists to address the collective concerns and needs of the organisations and provide technical support to the State Government, on policies and program matters, relating to Drugs and HIV & AIDS, and its other related issues, in the State.
