Dimapur, May 16 (MExN): The Network of Nagaland Drugs and AIDS Organisation (NNagaDAO) held its general body meeting at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur on May 15 to strengthen the network and deliberate on issues relating to drugs, HIV and associated concerns in the state.
The meeting was presided over by outgoing NNagaDAO president Abou Mere, who outlined key concerns confronting the network and highlighted the changing scenario surrounding drug use and HIV-related issues in Nagaland.
During the meeting, members expressed the importance of sustaining and strengthening the network and making it more vibrant to effectively address emerging challenges.
Several issues were deliberated upon during the meeting, including NGO renewal procedures, inclusiveness of constituent partner NGOs and district outreach, advocacy, legal compliance, rising incidence of HIV cases, the Legislator Forum on AIDS (LFA), Committee of Concern (CoC), and the Nagaland State Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Policy, 2016.
Participants also discussed the need for coordinated efforts among organisations working in the field of HIV prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and advocacy.
The general body meeting also installed a new team of board members headed by Ketho Angami as president.
Based on the deliberations, the house resolved to remain committed towards strengthening the network while continuing efforts to address issues related to drugs and HIV in the state.
