DIMAPUR, MARCH 4 (MExN): Cadres of the NNC (Non-Accordist) caught one person on Sunday for collecting money taking the name of the Naga National Council. According to the group’s UT-I chairman, Z. Awomi, the person identified as Vikaho Achumi, a resident of 4th Mile was caught by its cadres from 2 ½ Mile while he was demanding money from a truck. ‘Challans’ (receipt) bearing the nomenclature – “Naga National Council, Chaplee Affairs” alongwith a stamped letter head, which read “Office of the Naga National Council, Letter Head of the People’s Council of Nagaland” were confiscated from the person.
The person, said to be a student, was demanding Rs. 5000 per truck. Awomi said that according to the statement of Achumi, he was sent by one Rifet Sema, who reportedly works under the NNC faction led by V. Nagi. Achumi was promised Rs. 500 per ‘challan’ by the said Rifet Sema as reward, Awomi added. While condemning such unauthorized collection, Awomi accused V. Nagi of misleading young people, particularly students. He added that the vice president of the NNC (Non Accordist) and the ‘Ato kilonser’ Hojeto has also expressed displeasure over Nagi, whom they said is no longer a functionary of the NNC.
