NNC no more a legitimate body: GPRN

Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): The GPRN responding to the statement of the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) which appeared in the local media, has made its stand clear to the people, particularly the CPO that “the good and the bad history of the Nagas’ struggle for freedom will remain but some self-centered individual’s refusal to keep abreast with the need of the present times and their incorrigible attitude to do well on the bad side is a complete betrayal of trust on their part”.

While conceding that the national movement was initiated by the NNC, the GPRN through Venehu, CAO, Chakhesang Region stated that NNC never came out clean after signing what it called the “treacherous 1975 Shillong Accord by the NNC/FGN”. The GPRN also expressed surprise that under the banner of CPO Vedayi and Zhoni Rhi has released the “ridiculous statement glorifying the NNC as legitimate” to which the GPRN made clear that Chakhesang national workers strongly condemn it and also advised the two to “keep their love for NNC more than their love for Nagas to themselves.”

Also that the Shillong Accord was signed as ‘underground representatives’ not taking the name of the NNC/FGN because of technical reasons, the GPRN maintained that at that point of time NNC was a banned organization and therefore the then Governor LP Singh could not sign an agreement with “the banned organization.”

According to the GPRN,  till 1975, NNC/FGN was a legitimate movement, but since it can not escape from the Shillong Accord and its implication under the compelling circumstances, the NSCN/GPRN came into existence. “We are living in a changing world, where the political situation and its conditions also changes according to the need of time. The NSCN Collective Leadership tried its best to defend and save the NNC in spite of signing treacherous accord and waited for correction for nearly five years. In fact, AZ Phizo was made even more powerful to be president of both NNC/FGN in 1976 but he refused to take up any measures to save the nation from the treacherous accord. That way we say NNC is dead body and has nothing to do with the national affairs anymore” the statement asserted.

The GPRN maintained that the political statement of the CPO is not the voice of the whole Chakhesang people but a reflection and viewpoint of the president and its joint secretary. “The Chakhesang Region National workers shall not allow its people to pull the wheel of the Naga history, backward by the Chakhesangs” the GPRN stated.
