It has all along been the most irrefutable of facts that right from the very inception of time the Nagas had not been Indians and their land had absolutely never been a part of India. This eternal stance most explicitly stated isn’t one of any claim too audacious be it human or Divine. Most ironically, however, because of the Nagas’ resolute maintenance of their rights, India had come killing and destroying them; by the act of which India truly stands abominably guilty and irrevocably condemned forever. Overt declaration of our rights had been being ever most diligently carried on to this day without any letup by the Nagas starting from the instant the Nagas Club’s presentation of the historic Memorandum in 1929 to the Sir Simon Commission.
Having been most wrongly condemned as guilty for speaking up for their rights, the Naga houses and Churches were all reduces to ashes. Indiscriminate firing of guns of all calibers on whomsoever came on sight resulted in decimating more than one lakh precious Naga lives; their corpses have not fully decomposed nor have the tears of the mourners stopped flowing.
Only much after the overwhelming majority of the Nagas have well started on their rightful destiny; a miserable group of renegade Nagas allowed themselves to be manipulated by the sly functionaries of the covetous India and came up with a 16-point draft, got the approval of the Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and birthed the illegitimate “separate state” and brought about the legacy of Election to defile our virtuous History ever since. Even now in 2018, many so-called leaders are most busily engaged, vying for their places in the 60 seats that are up for grabs. Every candidate without exception had sworn as they filed their papers. On being elected, all would swear again to be loyal to the Indian Constitution. My sincere request is that none of the honourable candidates ever forget nor neglect the profound Naga National heritage.
Today a certain section is most bothered with the business of an illusive “solution”. If the solution were to result in Naga Sovereignty, then all the Nagas would be most willing and well humoured; but if the solution is one within the ambit of the Constitution of India, Nagas would most definitely reject the same. Some would also most ceaselessly harp on the “Framework Agreement of August 3, 2015”. But the people for whom it was supposed to mean, simply do not have even an inkling nor have they seen its faint shadow.
Since the BJP is at one most formidable height of power today, everybody is jostling to be in close association with her. Some others have also been observed to be working with other Indian National Parties as well. But we should most surely and carefully discern the fact that all the Indian National Parties are designed to swallow up the Nagas and her interests.
It is to be most well noted that all the Nagas living in the country are solidly behind the Naga National Council, standing most unflinchingly on the May 16, 1951 Plebiscite. And the eternal NNC stand from the beginning has been that of Naga Sovereignty and nothing less. So I hereby most humbly relay the profound nuggets of wisdom gleaned from the Elders as well as by delving deep into the vast wealth of the Naga Chronicles, to all the Nagas, and more particularly to the candidates to refresh the memory.
