Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The Naga National Party (NNP) has today welcomed the indefinite cease-fire extension signed between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM while making a point that peace is the need of the hour for the people. It also reminded that there has been more turmoil than peace within individuals, communities, within nations, within factions of warring groups and within different religious groups but the much desired peace of the people is possible only through love, unity and harmony which are the basis and foundation for achieving peace, it added.
The NNP while urging upon all the groups of Naga National Workers to come forward and jointly put effort to bring peace stated that ‘definite or indefinite is not the important thing but the right approach towards finding an honourable solution to the vexed Naga movement which should be acceptable to all sections of Naga people both over ground and under ground thereby ushering in lasting peace among all Nagas in particular and all the people of the region in general.’ It further appealed, ‘all the different armed groups to set aside their ideological difference, forgive one another excesses which might have been committed in the past and come together through reconciliation on the negotiating table and try to work out tangible means so that all group can sit together and talk with one voice for the single desired, the single issue of the Nagas with the government of India unitedly so that we can achieve what we have been fighting for.’
While pointing out that division among the Nagas will do no good but harm, NNP reiterated that all National Workers are equal precious assets to the Nagas. Naga people feel that coming together of all factions through reconciliation is a pre-requisite to find lasting solution to the vexed Indo-Naga conflict.
The NNP, therefore, has appealed all Naga National Workers and the Government of India to sincerely work to find a lasting peace. It also further appealed all the factions to co-operate with the organizations who are working for reconciliation. “In the mean time, the NNP wants that all the peace process be halted till the reconciliation process is achieved and conducive situation is created then resume the talk with the government of India in one voice with the approval of all section of the Naga people” it stated.
