While some learned intellectuals understands the stress on rationality for the progression of our society, some less learned intellectuals (as they claim themselves to be) may be confusing it as a mere move of the youths for their own self interest and a threat to our already fragmenting society. Observing the psychology behind the mindset of the Nagas, a scholar can come to terms that the Nagas are humble, dedicated to their beliefs, expresses freely in the society and are fairly rational in free environments. These are all good except that we pass our judgment or rationale, emphasizing on our emotions (because of the little understanding we have about human psychology), rather than coming to conclusion after going through all the data we have stored in our brain.
Rationality is not an ideal in itself, it is rather a practice of reasoning whichever ought to be the best outcome not just for the present but also for times to come. Every rational decision is based on truth and so is designed to stand the test of time.
Our society is in dire path if the same system continues for some more years and to those slow ones who doesn’t accept this fact, then we can explain it in accordance to the projections from our socio-economic context, (if needed). This world is no longer a place for the fools with their money or power. Just like we turn to our constitution when we do not find justice in our society, we can refer the international/Universal Laws basing on human rights in order to question all the irrational elements in our society and system that is withholding our progression.
It wasn’t much of a surprise but the ignorant capacity of some and their commitment to their views has baffled the very rational capacity of the nagas. It is a downer when some less learned and informed individuals are so intimidated by the truth and logic in our ideologies that they decided to suggest the churches to influence our politics and dominate our society. What they have stated probably wasn’t the worst idea considering over 90% of us being christians but (it is not known whether they knew about it or not) what they have said were all horribly irrational and anti-democratic and demeans the very foundation of democracy.
Some have opined that we best follow the biblical method of leadership via annointing by the church leaders, when in democracy it is the people who chooses their leaders by majority vote. Some have stated that we should follow the laws as inscribed in the holy texts. Are they aware that millions of people died trying to liberate humanity from regious bindings in the European world during the medieval times? Do they know that the Civil War in the American history was about the abolishment of slavery (which in the Old Testament is allowed) after which modern ideals like Liberty, Equality, Human rights, Securalism, etc. became more prominent. These ideals are the reason why even they could express and live freely in the society and without understanding, “Why people are doing what?”, It is best that they do their part of research before coming to conclusion and proving himself a fool. (We don’t have to be like RSS).
It is no scam that nagas are emotionally dependent in their reasoning and heeds no interest to logical reasoning. We choose to stay in the comfort zone by being ignorant and shutting ourselves from being filled up with logical reasoning, by doing so we are not doing anyone any favor. It is because of these the issues in our society takes too long to solve and even if it does, only at the expense of some or more reprecussion.
We should no longer confine ourselves to the teachings from the society and academic institutions. Since we understand English, we should expand our knowledge to as much as different fields as possible so that our reasoning would be more close to absoluteness. We are all made up of matters and every matter is a part of our universe. We cannot escape these fact even if we try to and everything from physical manifestation to metaphysics and idealogy are all but connected.
In order for us to understand more about life we should have enough idea from the tiniest to the biggest in the universe. From particle physics to astro physics, from ancient to contemporary history, from the evolution of early primitive man to modern days ideals, from the conversion of complex carbohydrates to blood sugar via our digestion, from our subconcious to external factors that determines the decision our concious mind, the principles of “Causality” to “Accidents” etc.
With rationality governing our laws, we need not worry about any external or internal ignorant forces intimidating our politics or society for we would know what best be done by then.
