Noklak DPDB meet focuses on agri and allied activities

DIMAPUR, JULY 19 (MExN): MLA & chairman DPDB Noklak, P Longon chaired the Noklak District Planning & Development Board meeting on July 18 at DC Conference Hall, Noklak. During the meeting, various important issues were discussed and decisions were made to uplift the district's development, a DIPR report stated. 

In his address, P Longon highlighted that Noklak district's economy mainly revolves around Agri-Allied activities. He emphasized the district's favorable climatic conditions for Millet cultivation and stressed the need for modern farming methods to be applied. 

Longon urged all stakeholders and departments to take the initiative and encourage millets cultivation in the district. He also reminded everyone that the year 2023 is declared the ‘International Year of Millets’ and requested the members and concerned departments to spread awareness about the health and nutritional benefits of millets.

During the productive meeting, the board addressed the need for skill development facilities in the Noklak district, with a focus on empowering the youth through skill training. The house unanimously approved and recommended this proposal to the concerned department.

Furthermore, the construction of the Superintendent of Police Office at Noklak and the establishment of Bus Terminal & Bus Stations in the area received the board's approval and recommendation for forwarding to the concerned authorities.

The board also discussed the shortage of posts in the District Hospital and Chief Medical Office, Noklak. To address this issue, the members approved various post creations under CMO and MS, recommending them to the concerned department. Additionally, the posting of medical officers at PHC, Panso, and Pangsha, where the public are facing difficulties due to the absence of MOs, was highlighted, urging the concerned department to take necessary action.

The meeting also saw approvals and recommendations for several development initiatives, including the construction of JNV at Thonoknyu, the setting up of the Frontier Christian School in Noklak village as proposed by the Baptist Church Thang, and the recognition of Lumoking village under Panso Headquarters.

Regarding Veterinary services in the district, the board apprised the concerned department for the creation of a Chief Veterinary Officer at Noklak and the establishment of a Veterinary Sub-Health Center at Chipur village under Thonoknyu.

Moreover, the board approved and recommended the LADP 2023-24 for 56 AC Noklak and 57 AC Thonoknyu, paving the way for essential development projects.

To streamline the district's administrative processes, the board tentatively fixed Wednesday on the third week of every month as the monthly DPDB meeting day for Noklak.
