Noksen A/C By-poll: H Chuba Chang slated to win unopposed

With only one nomination being filed on the last day of nominations,the consensus candidate for the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) H Chuba Chang is reportedly slated to win the 51 Noksen Assembly Constituency by-poll.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Tuensang Kumar Ramnikant informed that on March 30, only one nomination was filed. He however added, “The election process is not over yet.”

Four-time Congress MLA from Tuensang, H Chuba Chang was named the consensus candidate for the PDA on March 29. The Noksen seat fell vacant following the demise of Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Justice & Law CM Chang on October 12 last year. The by-poll to the seat is scheduled be held on April 17.

While the report was yet to be confirmed by the CEO Nagaland, the DC and DEO Tuensang on Tuesday notified that  the training of polling personnel scheduled on  March 31 and April 1 in connection with conduct of the 51-Noksen A/C by-poll “stands cancelled.”
