Nomination criteria for National Award for Child Welfare 2011

Dimapur, July 6 (DIPR): The monthly meeting of the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) for Dimapur District for the month of July 2011 was held on July 5 in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur.
The Board formed five members headed by Dimapur District Administration as Chairman for selection committee (Dimapur District) for nomination of National Award for Child welfare for the Year 2011. The award will be given to three individuals and five institutions that have worked for the welfare of children for some years. The award carries cash prize of rupees three lakh and a citation to each Institution and Rupees one lakh and a citation to each individual. Criteria for Selection for institutions should be those that are not entirely Government funded. The institution should have been in the field of child welfare for some years and should have good record and good performance. The individuals to be selected for the award should have worked for the cause of the children for years. Paid officers of the institution will not be eligible for selection. While welcoming the board members in the meeting, Vice Chairman & DC Dimapur Maong Aier mentioned about the six hours bandh called by the Dimapur Business Community and various other organization and submission of two point memorandum at his residence in the morning, pertaining to the extortion and threat by anti-social elements who terrorized the businessman and the incident of June 30 where a grenade was hurled in a cement Go-down at 3rd Mile claiming one innocent life and injuring three innocent people.
In regard to the memorandum from the DCCI along with the Frontal Business Organisations (FBO) and action taken by the District Co-ordination Group headed by DC, he said that the Co-ordination Group has held an emergency meeting on July 1 and has taken all measures to arrest the culprits from “(K) faction” which includes one Deputy Secretary Finance, one Sec’ Lieutenant and one Lance Corporal. Meanwhile, the District Co-ordination Group has appealed to the Government and to the Cease Fire Monitoring Group to hand over the culprits to the District Administration and Police. He further said that the Dimapur District Police and Administration has taken all pre-empt measures to nab the culprits at the earliest and intensive search, patrolling and MVCP is on. On behalf of the Government of Nagaland the Dimapur District Administration have also given the ex-gratia payment of rupees one lakh to the next kin who was killed and one lakh to three injured persons.
The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection (LMCP) presented Departmental activities and achievements in the District. The Board also recommended for opening of new Institution, which includes Rastra Basha Hindi Shiksha Kendra (Hindi College) Chekiyi Village and Montessori Training school, Circular Road Dimapur. The board also discussed on creation and re-organization of RD Block in the District and entrusted the Road & Bridges (PWD) to inspect the Seitheke Basa approach road where the only lifeline hanging bridge over Chathe River has been washed away due to heavy monsoon rain. In this regard, the Board also recommended for inclusion in the common pool fund (LADP) in the next financial year. The department of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) also presented the activities undertaken in the District.
