Assam, November 23 (MExN): The North East International Summit, a two-day flagship academic event, concluded at Assam University, Silchar on November 23, drawing wide participation from universities, experts, policymakers and international delegates. 

The event witnessed strong participation from scholars and faculty members of Illinois State University, USA, Rajsahi University, Bangladesh, Mizoram University, Delhi University, Dhaka University, and all major Northeastern universities including Assam University, Arunachal Pradesh University, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tezpur University, Manipur University, Nagaland University, Tripura University, and Rajiv Gandhi University.

The event also saw active contributions from TISS Mumbai, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Central University of South Bihar, Sikkim University, Sikkim Manipal University, USTM, Assam Down Town University, Assam Don Bosco University, Assam Royal Global University, Don Bosco University, Tura Christian College (Meghalaya) and West Bengal Degree College, Malda, among others. A number of international scholars participated online, expanding the Summit’s intellectual reach and adding global perspectives.

It informed that there were eight technical sessions spanning across carefully selected themes.  Across eight technical sessions, presenters addressed pressing issues related to social inequality and empowerment, conservation, displacement and indigenous knowledge, women and youth development, sustainable innovation and economic growth, climate resilience, wetland management, and biodiversity, handloom, handicraft and sustainable livelihoods, cultural psychology and entrepreneurship, Infrastructure, connectivity and regional resilience.

Convenor Dr Lalzo S Thangjom and coordinator Prof  M Tineshowri Devi, in a press release, expressed gratitude to all supporting institutions, participants and volunteers for their collective effort in making the Summit a landmark academic event.
