Agitation to continue till demands met, sets October 31 deadlines

Mokokchung, October 23 (MExN): The Ao Senden has once again rejected the Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Department’s reply to its ultimatum and warned of further escalation of its agitation if all its demands, including the posting of a radiologist at Dr Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) in Mokokchung, are not met by October 31.

In a letter to the Principal Director, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare through the Medical Superintendent of IMDH, the Ao Senden said it was “asking only to honour and implement” the notification dated August 19, 2026 regarding the deployment of a radiologist and “nothing more.”

The organisation questioned why a similar directive to release the incoming radiologist to IMDH Mokokchung from District Hospital Phek could not be issued, when the Medical Superintendent IMDH Mokokchung was directed on September 7, 2026 to release a Senior Radiologist from IMDH Mokokchung.

Reiterating its stand, the Ao Senden said “nothing short of a radiologist will be acceptable at IMDH Mokokchung.”

In the letter signed by Vice President Aowati and General Secretary Imtipokyim, Ao Senden also demanded that all attached doctors and nurses be detached and reverted to IMDH, and that the shifting to the new Block A be executed.

Terming the department's “unjustifiable inaction” as a challenge to the Ao Senden, the organisation said it was “willing and ever ready” to further escalate the agitation.

The Ao Senden asked the authority to meet all the demands on or before October 31, 2026, stating that until then the agitation would continue, with the scope to escalate further in the event of inaction.
