The citizens of Nagaland now can ‘confidentially’ report any corrupt practices, demand for bribes or holding of disproportionate assets by government officials, a public notice issued by the Nagaland Police stated on June 12.

The public servants include both employees of Union and State Governments as well as State and Central Public Sector Undertakings, and Banks, it informed.

To this end, the Nagaland Police has activated an anti-corruption helpline number as well as dedicated email handle and urged the general public to inform Crime Investigation Department (CID) regarding any aforesaid issues.

The complaint, if any, can be addressed to Officer-in-Charge, State Crime Police Station, Police Headquarters Kohima, added the notice signed by Manoj Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Crime) and PRO, PHQ, Nagaland Police.

“The complaints may be reported on the following Mobile No. 6009308037 and email ID: statecrimeps-ngl@gov.in,” it added.

The state police further stressed that tackling corruption is not just the responsibility of  a single agency but a collective responsibility. It appealed the public to report any forms of corrupt practices for necessary legal action under appropriate section of  the Law.

“The identity of the informant shall be kept confidential,” it added.

Meanwhile, when The Morung Express dialed the helpline number Tuesday evening to check its ‘activeness,’ it was responded by an official.

No complaint has been received so far, the official informed, when queried on the first-day's status. It must be mentioned here that while the notice was shared widely on social media platforms on June 14, the official notification is being published on local dailies on Wednesday.

The official also informed that once received, the police will investigate the complaint depending on the nature and by following the due legal process.
